Press Conference Announcing Zoomlion's Aerial Work Platform Project in Hungary

Zoomlion Heavy Industry Science & Technology Co., Ltd. has unveiled plans to establish a cutting-edge smart factory for aerial work platforms in Hungary. The announcement was made on February 21, 2025, following an agreement signed the day prior. The new facility, which will be located in the city of Tatabánya, was highlighted at a press conference by Hungary’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

Strategically positioned at the crossroads of major European highway networks, the factory is set to become a key hub connecting Eastern and Western Europe’s primary logistics routes. The move is expected to significantly enhance Zoomlion’s footprint in the European market, particularly within the aerial work platform sector, which has seen increasing demand for high-quality, sustainable machinery.

The project, developed in collaboration with CTP Group, will cover an area of approximately 41.18 acres (250 mu). The factory will be equipped with advanced digital, intelligent, and environmentally sustainable technologies to manufacture a variety of high-performance, low-carbon aerial work platforms. With its state-of-the-art production processes and equipment, the facility is expected to better serve both local and wider European markets, positioning Zoomlion as a key player in the region.

In addition to strengthening Zoomlion’s position in Europe, the new factory will generate significant economic benefits for the local community. Once operational, the facility is expected to create 800 new jobs, contributing to regional economic growth. The factory will also foster stronger collaboration with local supply chain partners, helping to develop a localized industrial ecosystem that benefits both Zoomlion and its Hungarian business partners.

Zoomlion’s decision to build the facility in Hungary is part of its broader strategy to expand globally. In recent years, the company has taken steps to implement a “global village” approach, aiming to localise operations and grow its international presence. Zoomlion has already established 10 overseas R&D and manufacturing bases, with its products now sold in more than 150 countries. More than half of the company’s revenue now comes from markets outside of China.

Zhan Chunxin, Chairman and CEO of Zoomlion, expressed gratitude for the support received for the project and emphasized the company’s commitment to rapid progress. “We’d like to extend our sincere gratitude to all parties who have supported this project. We will accelerate its implementation according to the investment strategy and aim to bring the factory into operation later this year,” he stated.

The new factory marks a key milestone in Zoomlion’s expansion in Europe and reinforces its dedication to cutting-edge technology and localised operations. As it moves forward, the facility is expected to play a crucial role in driving both innovation and economic development within Hungary and across the broader European market.
