The Ozzy Osbourne haunted house at Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights is almost open, and a new preview tour gives the clearest look yet at what fans are walking into: Gothic churches, dungeon cells, an oversized bat decapitating a human, and a throne taken directly from Osbourne’s final concert. Two versions of the attraction open at Universal Orlando Resort on 28 August and at Universal Studios Hollywood on 3 September, both running until 1 November.
The attraction arrives as a tribute. Osbourne died on 22 July 2025 at age 76, and according to Haunted Attraction Network, Universal built the house with the participation of his family. Sharon and Jack Osbourne were involved from the announcement, jointly stating: ‘Ozzy never stopped pushing boundaries, and he loved anything that gave fans a new way to experience his music and the worlds he created. Halloween Horror Nights has done an incredible job bringing that spirit to life.’
The tenth and final house of HHN 35
For Orlando, this is not just another addition to the line-up. Haunted Attraction Network reports, citing Fox 35 Orlando, that the Ozzy Osbourne: Prince of Darkness house is the tenth and final house of HHN 35, closing out the roster for this year’s event. That position gives it a certain weight: the last house announced, the one built around the career of a man who died in the months before it opened.
Lora Sauls, assistant director of creative development and show direction for art, design and entertainment at Universal Orlando, spoke to Metal Hammer to describe what guests will encounter. It begins in a Gothic church or temple-like structure, with the Ozzy Osbourne symbol overhead and Ozzy surrounded by cloaked minions. Vision pools show footage of his concerts. From there, visitors descend into dungeons, where Osbourne appears as Patient Number 9.
‘Then what I love is you’re going to see an oversized bat eat the head off of a human,’ Sauls said. ‘Role reversal in such a good way. You’re going into the cemetery and seeing Ozzy as the werewolf. You’re gonna see the Crazy Train and get on the Crazy Train with Ozzy as the conductor of the Crazy Train.’
The house closes on Osbourne seated on his throne, an asset taken directly from his final concert. ‘We got the assets of that throne,’ Sauls confirmed, ‘so you’re going to see the Prince Of Darkness on his throne with his dragon beside him.’ Female dancing demons described as ‘very 80s-inspired’ lead up to the throne room, followed by a final scare Sauls declined to spoil. ‘We think there’s going to be a lot of people that have an emotional connection to this house,’ she added. ‘It is an absolutely gorgeous house.’
Hollywood starts in Birmingham, Orlando covers the full career
The two sites take different approaches to the same story. Haunted Attraction Network reports that the Hollywood version is structured chronologically, beginning in Birmingham, England, where Osbourne grew up, before moving through his career opening on ‘Crazy Train.’ The scenes draw on all 13 of his solo albums, with imagery from Blizzard of Ozz, Diary of a Madman, Bark at the Moon, No More Tears and Ordinary Man all represented.
John Murdy, executive producer of Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood, framed the project in terms of legacy rather than spectacle alone. ‘Ozzy Osbourne didn’t just help define heavy metal, he created a cultural phenomenon that has influenced generations of music, art and horror,’ Murdy said. ‘We previously had the privilege of collaborating with Ozzy, and this new haunted house is an opportunity to honor his extraordinary solo career. Inspired by all 13 of his albums, guests will journey through the dark, surreal worlds that fueled his music and cemented his legacy as the one and only Prince Of Darkness.’
Sharon and Jack Osbourne’s statement pointed fans toward what to look for inside: ‘Walking through these haunted houses, you’ll recognize so many moments inspired by his music and imagination. It’s a wonderful tribute to Ozzy, and we hope fans have as much fun experiencing it as he would have had seeing it come together.’
Ozzy Osbourne: Prince of Darkness opens at Universal Orlando Resort on 28 August and at Universal Studios Hollywood on 3 September, with both attractions running until 1 November.
