ICNMaster Facilitates Intelligence Transition Towards Core Network AN Level 4 for Higher Network Stability and Efficiency

As the telecommunications industry accelerates its digital transformation, Autonomous Networks (ANs) have become a key focus for global operators. In 2024, 73 international partners contributed to the sixth edition of TM Forum’s AN whitepaper, while 61 companies signed the AN Manifesto, underscoring the widespread adoption of AI-integrated networks.

Huawei is at the forefront of this shift, advancing network automation with its intelligent core network solution, ICNMaster. The system is designed to enhance operational efficiency and network stability by leveraging artificial intelligence to enable autonomous operations in high-value scenarios. Huawei’s goal is to support the transition from AN Level 3 to AN Level 4, where networks can self-heal and recover seamlessly from faults.

AI-Powered Operations Enhance Efficiency

The increasing complexity of cloud-native architectures and the continuous introduction of new radio access technologies (RAT) are making traditional, manual network operations unsustainable. Rising operational costs, frequent network incidents, and growing customer expectations are driving operators to prioritise automated solutions.

Huawei’s ICNMaster integrates AI, telecom foundation models, and digital twin technology to streamline network operations and maintenance (O&M). Unlike conventional troubleshooting, which relies on expert knowledge and manual interventions, ICNMaster can automatically detect and diagnose faults within minutes, significantly reducing downtime and ensuring seamless service continuity.

Additionally, AI-driven agents assist in key operational areas such as complaint analysis, alarm handling, fault rectification, service provisioning, and configuration changes. By automating these processes, network engineers can focus on more complex tasks, improving overall efficiency.

Ensuring Network Stability Through Intelligent Recovery

Ensuring high network stability has become a critical priority for operators. In November 2024, industry-wide high-stability level assessment standards were introduced, with over 20 leading operators participating in the evaluation. TM Forum also released a whitepaper outlining these standards, highlighting the shift towards more resilient networks.

Huawei’s ICNMaster is designed to support this industry transformation by providing advanced network self-healing capabilities. At AN Level 4, networks can automatically recommend recovery paths in the event of severe disruptions, minimising service interruptions. This ensures that even in extreme fault scenarios, services remain operational.

By integrating AI into core network O&M, Huawei aims to provide operators with a future-proof solution that enhances operational efficiency, reduces manual workload, and strengthens network resilience. The company remains committed to innovation as the industry moves towards fully autonomous networks.
