AliExpress, the global online retail platform under Alibaba International Digital Commerce Group, is marking its 15th anniversary with a renewed focus on affordability, innovation, and customer satisfaction. The company, which has grown to serve over 150 million consumers across 200 countries, is offering major discounts and launching interactive features to mark the occasion.

Since its launch in 2010, AliExpress has played a key role in reshaping global e-commerce, making a vast selection of products more accessible to consumers worldwide. The company has invested heavily in logistics, technology, and personalisation, with a particular emphasis on expanding its services in Europe.

What UK Shoppers Are Buying in 2025

According to AliExpress data, UK consumers have a strong preference for kitchen gadgets, lighting, consumer electronics, beauty accessories, and fashion. Additionally, categories like home improvement, DIY, and pet products are seeing significant growth. The platform has reported a surge in demand for sports and fitness-related products, as well as smart pet toys.

Key Milestones in AliExpress’ Growth

Over the years, AliExpress has introduced new services and improved its delivery efficiency to better serve global shoppers. Some of its major milestones include:

  • 2013 – The platform expanded its reach to more than 200 countries and regions.
  • 2017 – AliExpress surpassed 100 million global buyers and established a local team in Europe.
  • 2023 – The company launched its “Choice” service, providing curated products with free shipping and returns in over 50 markets, including the UK. The same year, AliExpress shortened cross-border delivery times to as little as five working days in select markets.
  • 2024 – AliExpress expanded into livestream shopping in the UK with the “It Girls” campaign and introduced an interactive feature, “Shake & Win,” allowing users to win prizes and coupons by shaking their phone. The platform also launched “Big Save,” offering discounts on top technology and household products.

AliExpress has also partnered with major sporting events, becoming the official e-commerce partner of UEFA Euro 2024 and launching a campaign with David Beckham. The company is also a sponsor of the Paris 2024 Olympics, where it is promoting its “Find Your Sport” campaign to highlight the unifying power of athletics.

Massive Discounts and Community Initiatives

To celebrate its anniversary, AliExpress is running a March Anniversary Sale from 17 to 26 March, offering up to 80% off a wide range of products, along with coupons and prizes. UK shoppers will also have access to curated product selections from nearly 100 local influencers, including TV personalities Rebecca Vieira and Kerry Katona.

Beyond discounts, AliExpress is using the occasion to give back. The company has announced plans to fund the planting of 10,000 trees in the UK’s North East Community Forest, starting in April 2025, in partnership with Veritree.

Enhanced Shopping Experience for Customers

AliExpress is prioritising customer satisfaction with new and improved services:

  • Faster Delivery – Local deliveries within three days and cross-border shipping in as little as seven days.
  • Free Shipping & Returns – Shoppers can take advantage of free shipping on select orders and hassle-free returns.

As the company celebrates its 15th year, it remains committed to innovation and affordability, promising more advancements in the years to come.
