The Animal Collective Feels tour is bigger than first billed: the band have confirmed four shows dedicated to performing their 2005 album in full, spanning New York, Los Angeles, and Pomona across late October. Pitchfork reports the full run as two nights at New York’s Knockdown Center on 21 and 22 October, a date at Los Angeles’ Fonda Theatre on 24 October, and a fourth show at Pomona’s Fox Theater on 26 October.
The dates mark the band’s first performances together since 2022, making this reunion something fans have been waiting on for the better part of three years.
The Album Behind the Animal Collective Feels Tour
Feels got its 20th anniversary treatment last year, arriving with nine unearthed B-sides and previously unreleased demos. Around the same time, the band premiered FeelsLive 04/05, which compiled live recordings captured to MiniDisc at a series of shows from 2004 and 2005. It was that kind of archival care that suggested a live return to the record was only a matter of time.
Their most recent studio album, Isn’t It Now?, arrived in 2023. Since then, Panda Bear, Avey Tare, and Geologist have each been active with solo material, keeping the constituent parts of the band in motion even when Animal Collective as a collective unit has been quieter. Last year, Geologist and Deakin collaborated on the soundtrack to Jetty, a documentary about the reconstruction of New York’s Rockaway Beach in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.
$1 Per Ticket Goes to Overdose Prevention
There is a meaningful addition built into the ticketing. DICE confirms that Animal Collective have partnered with PLUS1 so that $1 from every ticket sold will go to This Must Be the Place, an organisation working to make Naloxone and other overdose prevention tools more accessible at live events. It is the sort of initiative that does not always make the headline but matters in practical terms on the ground at a venue.
The Animal Collective Feels tour full schedule is as follows:
21 October (Queens, NY, Knockdown Center
22 October) Queens, NY, Knockdown Center
24 October (Los Angeles, CA, Fonda Theatre
26 October) Pomona, CA, Fox Theater
For a band whose catalogue rewards that kind of deep-listen immersion, two nights in New York and back-to-back California stops feels like the appropriate scale. The Pomona date in particular gives a different kind of audience a realistic shot at getting in the room. Whether this run points toward anything beyond the Feels anniversary cycle remains an open question, but these four dates are the confirmed, concrete reality right now.
