Cybersecurity firm Immersive Labs has announced the appointment of Oliver Newbury to its Board of Directors. Newbury, a seasoned executive with extensive experience in global cybersecurity, is set to play a pivotal role in shaping the company’s strategy and innovation as it continues to expand its reach in the people-centric cyber resilience sector.
Newbury brings a wealth of expertise to the role, having held leadership positions at some of the world’s largest organisations. Notably, he served as the Global Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at Barclays, where he led the bank’s global cybersecurity strategy. Before his time at Barclays, Newbury was the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for BT’s Security Division, where he was instrumental in developing and managing security technologies for the telecommunications giant.
He is also a Senior Advisor at TPG, a global alternative asset firm, where he supports business growth and innovation. Newbury’s strong background in cybersecurity and technology makes him a valuable addition to Immersive Labs’ Board, especially as the company continues to work with major global firms to enhance their cybersecurity resilience.
Immersive Labs, which has become a leader in people-centric cyber resilience, works with organisations like Citi, Pfizer, Humana, HSBC, the UK Ministry of Defence, and the NHS to help them strengthen their cybersecurity capabilities. The company’s unique approach focuses on building and proving cyber skills across the entire workforce, addressing one of the biggest challenges facing cybersecurity leaders today: ensuring that all employees, not just technical teams, are equipped to defend against evolving cyber threats.
In his new role, Newbury will help inform Immersive Labs’ business strategy, drawing on his deep understanding of the needs of large multinational enterprises. He expressed his excitement about the opportunity to collaborate with the company’s leadership team, including CEO and founder James Hadley, to further expand the business and drive value for customers.
“I’m energised by the opportunity to work with James and the team to grow the business,” Newbury said. “Immersive Labs solves one of the biggest challenges facing cyber leaders today: building and proving cyber capabilities across the entire workforce. Their innovative approach to people-centric cybersecurity is what truly sets them apart from others in the space.”
James Hadley, CEO of Immersive Labs, welcomed Newbury to the Board, praising his impressive track record in cybersecurity. “Oliver is a well-respected powerhouse in the cybersecurity industry, and we’re fortunate to have him join us as we scale and expand our global business,” Hadley said. “His insights from his experience driving security at Barclays and BT will be invaluable as we continue to innovate and grow.”
The appointment of Newbury is expected to further enhance Immersive Labs’ ability to provide cutting-edge cybersecurity solutions to its clients, empowering organizations to build a more resilient workforce in the face of growing cyber threats.
