The Bibio and Dorian Concept collaborative album Answers has been announced for release through Warp on 16 October, a thirteen-track record that weaves together IDM, folk and field recordings from two artists who have been quietly building toward this moment for well over a decade.
Bibio’s real name is Stephen Wilkinson; Dorian Concept is Oliver Johnson. According to Northern Transmissions, the pair first met in 2009, meaning this record arrives off the back of more than fifteen years of creative relationship. That timeline matters. Answers does not feel like a one-off pairing of strangers who happened to share a festival bill; it is the product of two people who have had plenty of time to understand how the other works.
How the Bibio Dorian Concept Collaborative Album Came Together
The catalyst was a specific moment of one artist watching the other’s work. Bibio caught Dorian Concept’s visuals for the 2022 track ‘Let It All Go’ and the two got talking about building an audio-visual project together. What followed was a long-distance creative exchange. Northern Transmissions reports that Answers was made remotely, with the duo working across Vienna, Wolverhampton and rural Wales, trading compositions, video clips and ideas over email, WhatsApp and a shared folder.
It is the kind of process that would have been unthinkable at a certain point in both their careers, and it shows in the texture of the record. Field recordings sit beside electronic production; folk-influenced fingerpicking surfaces inside heavily processed sound design. The geography of the collaboration (a central European city, a West Midlands town, the Welsh countryside) bleeds into the thing itself.
Five music videos accompany the album, put together using a mix of digital and analogue video equipment, which keeps the handmade, tactile feel running through the visual side of the project as well. Two singles are already out. ‘Shame’ arrived first, followed by a video for ‘Lichen Trip’, an electronic-folk piece that gives a fair indication of where the record sits sonically.
Not Their First Collaboration
This is not the first time Wilkinson and Johnson have appeared on the same record. In 2025, Bibio contributed guitar to Dorian Concept’s album Miniature, a credit that now reads as a dry run for the fuller creative partnership Answers represents. Going from a guest guitar part to a co-written, co-produced thirteen-track LP is a meaningful step up, and the fact that the two kept returning to each other’s work across the years says something about the mutual pull.

The title choices alone sketch a particular kind of headspace, pastoral, slightly hallucinatory, unhurried.
For anyone who has followed either artist through their respective back catalogues, the pairing makes a kind of obvious sense in retrospect. Wilkinson’s work as Bibio has always carried a folk sensibility underneath its electronic surface, and Johnson’s productions under the Dorian Concept name have never been shy of texture and odd harmonic territory. Answers brings those instincts into direct conversation for the first time as an equal, credited partnership.
