Boston slowcore trio Horse Jumper of Love are marking the Horse Jumper of Love anniversary in style: a deluxe reissue of their self-titled debut lands on 25 September via Run For Cover Records, accompanied by a North American and European tour on which the band will perform the album in full.
The reissue, Horse Jumper of Love (Deluxe Edition), arrives as a 2xLP vinyl pressing and expands the original nine songs with unreleased tracks, demos, and alternate takes. Among the additions is ‘Heather’, recorded in 2013 but never previously released. The tracklist runs to 22 entries in total, taking in 4-track versions, demos, and archival recordings stretching back a decade.

The physical package leans hard into the band’s DIY origins. Alongside the remastered vinyl, buyers get a tab book of the nine original songs hand-drawn by singer-guitarist Dimitri Giannopoulos, a short essay on the making of the record, photographs from the band’s first tours, and scans of handwritten notes-turned-lyrics that Giannopoulos wrote while working as a museum security guard. There is also, the band say, ‘one secret’. Priced at $32.99, it is available via Rough Trade.
The original album came out on Disposable America and, through word of mouth, carved out a reputation as an underground staple in the DIY slowcore and shoegaze scene. Ten years on, the reissue frames it as a proper document of that world: handmade, annotated, and given room to breathe.
The band’s catalogue has evolved since. Their 2019 record So Divine introduced new sonic textures, including cello performed by Emily Dix Thomas, a development that put distance between the lo-fi bedroom recordings of the debut and the band’s more recent sound.
Tour Dates: US, Canada, and a November Run Across Europe
The tour kicks off on 25 September in Brooklyn, NY at Warsaw, running through the US and Canada until 23 October. After a short break the band head to London for the Pitchfork Festival on 2 November, before a run of European dates throughout the rest of the month.
UK shows include Bristol’s Strange Brew on 3 November, YES Manchester (Pink Room) on 4 November, Birmingham’s Castle and Falcon on 5 November, and Glasgow’s Room 2 on 6 November. The European leg then moves through Paris, Bruges, Amsterdam, Berlin, Athens, Thessaloniki, Sofia, Bucharest, Lisbon, Barcelona, and Madrid before wrapping up in Dublin at The Grand Social on 24 November.
The full UK and European routing is a proper circuit for a band whose music has long circulated through exactly the kind of independent venues on this list. Strange Brew, Room 2, the Pink Room at YES, these are the rooms where slowcore and shoegaze still find their people.
Selected North American dates come with support from Special Guest and 22° Halo, Dutch Interior and Shallowater, Dead Sullivan and Amelia’s Best Friend, and Flooding, depending on the night.
The Horse Jumper of Love anniversary reissue is out 25 September. The band perform their debut in full from that date through to late November, ending the run in Dublin on 24 November.
