From Ego Death to Power Snatch: a partnership that keeps moving
Power Snatch is the project Williams and James launched earlier in 2026 with a surprise drop simply titled EP1. The pairing is not a new one. According to Consequence, James co-wrote and produced most of Williams’ solo album Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party, which was named one of the best albums of 2025. That record gave the two a shared creative language, and Power Snatch reads like a project where they’ve decided to push that language somewhere rawer and less polished.
EP2 is out now across streaming platforms. The tracklist runs four songs: Machete, New Legs, Born Dead, and Hell Is a Hallway. Where EP1 announced the band’s existence, this one makes the case for a sound that sits somewhere between grunge-adjacent guitar work and slower, murkier bass-heavy production. The trip-hop influence, in particular, gives it a texture that sits well outside anything Williams was doing in the mid-2010s.
Two EPs in a single year, with a touring schedule running either side of them, is a serious rate of output. It suggests Power Snatch is not a side project being fed scraps between bigger commitments but something Williams and James are genuinely investing in.
The Hayley Williams Show: Power Snatch tour dates and guests confirmed
Williams only just came off the road. Her Hayley Williams at a Bachelorette Party tour wrapped in June, and she’s heading straight back out in September for The Hayley Williams Show, her second tour of 2026. The Power Snatch EP2 release lands with that run only weeks away, which is unlikely to be coincidental timing.
The Hayley Williams Show bill is already shaping up to be one of the more eclectic packages of the autumn. mxdwn Music reports that the tour will include two nights at Forest Hills Stadium in New York City on 16 and 17 September, with special guests Magdalena Bay, Rico Nasty, Annie DiRusso, and Mannequin Pussy across the run. That is a genuinely varied support lineup: synth-pop, rap, indie rock, and noise-punk all in the same bracket, which either reflects Williams’ own breadth of taste or is an active statement about who she wants in the room.
Forest Hills is a 14,000-capacity outdoor venue in Queens, and two nights there signals that demand for this tour is strong. The Bachelorette Party run clearly built the audience, and the new EP gives people a fresh reason to show up.
Power Snatch adds another layer to what September already promises. Having EP2’s four tracks in circulation before the tour opens means audiences will come in already familiar with Machete and New Legs, which changes the dynamic of those early shows.
