Help Musicians UK

Help Musicians UK partners with BBC Music Introducing Live for three days of programming celebrating artists, industry and wellbeing

Help Musicians UK is the leading independent music charity, offering a wide range of support for music creators of all genres, disciplines, ages and stages of their careers.

One of the ways we assist artists is financially, through funding for projects, touring, recording, career development, business planning and beyond. On top of supporting the economics of being a musician, we also recognise the pressures that can come with being a creative. Following our ground-breaking research, Can Music Make You Sick, we launched the around the clock listening ear service Music Minds Matter.

Throughout BBC Introducing Live 2018 they invited attendees to see first-hand how to give yourself the best chance of getting that financial boost to empower your creative freedom. Funded artists such as award-winning beatboxer Grace Savage, Joni Mitchell-esque busking queen NICOLAH, utterly unique hip-hop-soul-jazz MC Shunaji, contemporary R&B-jazz fusion soul singer Estée Blu and Beyoncé-come-Beethoven singer songwriter Cat Delphi will perform and discuss the funding they received with HMUK’s Ellie Moore.

While we’re all about the music, we are of course all about the musicians too. We want a world where music thrives, which means ensuring musicians thrive too. Our team work tirelessly on the ground and our support service, Music Minds Matter, has helped hundreds to find the direction they need. During BBC Introducing Live we’ll be hosting breathing, meditation and sleep workshops as well as discussions on mental health in dance music and crisis prevention.
