Jasmine Dotiwala is a broadcaster, producer, director and columnist who has worked within the television and music industry for over two decades making TV content with the early pioneers of pop and hip hop culture as well as modern day names.
Jasmine has interviewed everyone from Jay Z, J Hus, Eminem, Beyonce, Stormzy, Public Enemy, Snoop Dogg, Mariah, Mary J Blige, Whitney, Jean Claude Van Damme, Sarah Jessica Parker, Spice Girls, Fugees and many, many more during her 14 years at MTV. In fact, it’s easier to make a list of who she hasn’t interviewed.
Jasmine started as a global roving reporter on The Word (Channel 4) - the biggest music youth culture TV show in the nineties, then moving across to MTV News as a presenter all across Europe, producing and directing every MTV flagship show from Making the video, MTV News, MTV Cribs and more before heading up MTV Base and MTV Dance production.
As well as for MTV she has made music television for Channel 4 (T4 Music), ITV (One Night Stand) and more.
Jasmine is currently Head of Youth Media at Media Trust where she trains young people from all across the UK and London in multi-media skills for TV, radio and digital platforms..
Jasmine also reports on Arts & Culture stories for Channel 4 News and SKY News.
Jasmine writes on the globes biggest hip hop brand platform – The Source and is also a regular contributor to The Metro online.
Dotiwala sits on the RTS Futures (Royal Television Society) committee, BRIT Awards Diversity Committee, I Luv Live music board, MOBO Awards Judging Committee, BET International Judging panel, Ivy Club Committee and was an original member of the MTV Diversity Board.
She has also been requested to speak at House of Lords on media subjects around young people, inclusivity and diversity.
Dotiwala continues to chair and appear on panels around music, television, youth and diversity themes. Dotiwala is also a host producer annually on the annual MTV Europe Music Awards, and an international judge for music awards in Uganda and Namibia (NAMAs).
