    About Jacob

    Jacob Rickard is a producer at BBC Radio 1, currently working as the creative and editorial lead for Radio 1’s Chillest Show and a projects producer for specialist music programmes including Annie Mac & The 8th.

    He’s worked Radio 1 since 2009, at the cutting edge of developing new shows and breaking British music. As a member of the world-renowned Radio 1 playlist committee, Jacob has been a consistent champion of alternative music and independent labels, leading to mainstream plays for new acts. He was on the launch team for Annie Mac’s evening show (winner of an ARIA Gold Award in 2017) with live broadcasts from Ibiza, Glastonbury, Bestival and The Great Escape.

    Jacob has over a decade of professional radio industry experience which also includes being the lead producer of BBC Music Sound Of 2015, a senior producer overseeing specialist music output at Choice FM, a creative producer on music projects at the London agency Social Life, plus as the presenter of the weekly BBC Music Introducing show on Radio Kent for 5 years where he championed new bands including Slaves.
