    About Dermot

British-Irish TV presenter Sean Dermot Fintan O'Leary, Jr. started out DJing on Essex Radio before becoming a runner on a Channel 4 show starring Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins. He then landed a presenting gig on the show before being moved to host Big Brother's Little Brother. Dermot was then snapped up by ITV where he began hosting The X Factor, the show for which he is now most famous. He has held the position since 2007, with the exception of 2015, when he stepped down and was replaced by Olly Murs and Caroline Flack. He returned as the host in 2016.
