Caffe Nero is an Independent family owned European premium coffee house which was started in 1997 by Gerry Ford, who had a vision to create traditional Italian cafés across Europe; places that would serve very high-quality coffee and serve as neighbourhood meeting spots.
The brand was founded on the principals of serving speciality coffee and making a meaningful difference in people’s lives, whether that be the customers who visit, the Baristas who hand make the coffee or the people and communities the brand touches.
Today there are over 1,000 coffee houses in 11 countries, with each coffee house unique and designed to suit the community it serves. The original ‘Classico’ blend of coffee is still produced in the brand’s own roastery, with the coffee beans sourced directly from the farming communities who work with Caffè Nero to grow higher quality green beans.
Through the brand’s Foundation it has raised over quarter of a million pounds for good causes in the UK by fund matching team members as they raise money for good causes, and internationally has supported coffee farming communities by funding new schools, clean water projects and alternative income streams such as bee keeping in Ethiopia.
Caffè Nero supports, nurtures and promotes unsigned musicians through playing their music in store, hosting about 300 gigs annually in Caffe Nero’s and sponsoring music festivals such as the Cornbury Music Festival at which they have their own stage. Musicians such as Passenger and Jack Savoretti were supported early in their career by Caffè Nero.
